Web analytics and cookies

In order to create a user-friendly website, we analyse the usage patterns of visitors to the site. To do this, we use the Matomo analysis tool.

This tool uses cookies that record users’ IP addresses to collect information about usage patterns, browser type, operating system and broadband provider. The information is used in aggregated form for analytical purposes to improve the website.

All collected data is anonymised and therefore cannot be traced back to individual users.

The processing basis for the storage of such data is GDPR Article 6 (1) (f), which allows us to process data that are necessary for the purpose of pursuing a legitimate interest that overrides the interest of the data subject. The legitimate interest is to improve our services.

At fiskeridir.no, you can register with your mobile number or email to receive newsletters, or notifications about new fisheries reports and regulations, aquaculture regulations and maps. The Directorate of Fisheries uses external suppliers to operate these services, and data processing agreements have been entered into with these suppliers. MailMojo is the data processor for the newsletter, while Systor Vest AS is the data processor for text message notification.

The processing basis for these services is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Directorate of Fisheries' Facebook page

On our Facebook page, personal data is collected through what users write and the actions they perform related to the page. Data is analysed via Facebook’s Page Insights service and presented to the Directorate of Fisheries as aggregated statistics.

Information about Page Insights

Page Insights provides information about how many people have viewed, liked, shared, and commented on posts, how users react to posts, demographic data, and the number of page visits. The Directorate of Fisheries only has access to aggregated statistics and not to individual users' data.

We will also have access to information that users themselves choose to share in comments or through reactions to posts. It is not possible to send us direct messages via Messenger.

We do not use any advertising services. All case processing and dialogue related to individuals takes place via other channels.

Joint processing responsibility with Facebook

The Directorate of Fisheries has joint processing responsibility with Meta/Facebook Ireland for processing personal data on our Facebook page, e.g. data used in the insight function. The Directorate of Fisheries and Facebook have regulated this responsibility in an agreement.

The Directorate of Fisheries' processing responsibility is limited to what we can influence, while other processing of personal data by Facebook falls outside our responsibility.

Processing basis and purpose of processing
The Directorate of Fisheries’ presence on Facebook is important to ensure transparent and clear management. Our processing basis is the legitimate interest in disseminating knowledge and information about the regulations we manage (GDPR Article 6 (1) (f)).

Your rights
As a Facebook user, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, object and restrict processing of data and the right to data portability. You can also complain to a supervisory authority.

Facebook is responsible for providing you with information about processing via Page Insights. Questions to the Directorate of Fisheries about rights may be forwarded to Facebook.
