Directorate of Fisheries' Facebook page
On our Facebook page, personal data is collected through what users write and the actions they perform related to the page. Data is analysed through Facebook’s Page Insights service and presented to the Directorate of Fisheries as aggregated statistics.
Information about Page Insights (facebook.com)
Page Insights provide the Directorate of Fisheries with information about how many people have seen posts, liked, shared and commented, how registered users react to posts, demographic data, and how many people view the page. The Directorate of Fisheries does not have access to data that is processed as part of the events, but only to the aggregated Page Insights. The use of insight data helps the Directorate to provide its own information that is published and what content best engages users. The Directorate of Fisheries is always busy disseminating correct and important information, and collecting statistics will also provide an indication of useful value for the public.
The Directorate of Fisheries will have access to personal data that users choose to share in the comments field, and that appears when visiting the company page, such as the reactions of users. The Directorate has closed the possibility for users to send us direct messages (Messenger).
We do not use any advertising services. All case processing and dialogue related to individuals takes place via other channels.
Joint processing responsibility with Facebook
The Directorate of Fisheries has joint processing responsibility with Meta/Facebook Ireland for the processing of personal data that occurs on the Directorate of Fisheries' Facebook page. This applies, for example, to personal data that is necessary for Facebook's insight function.
The Directorate of Fisheries and Facebook have regulated how the processing responsibility shall be exercised in an agreement.
Agreement on the regulation of processing responsibility (facebook.com)
The Directorate of Fisheries' presence on Facebook is important in its commitment to open and clear administration. The advantage the Directorate of Fisheries achieves is that we become more easily accessible to a larger part of the population. This is also in the public interest in that information from the directorate becomes more easily accessible to the population.
The Directorate of Fisheries' processing basis is the legitimate interest in communicating knowledge and information about the regulations that the Directorate of Fisheries administers to a larger part of the population (Article 6 (1) (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation).
