The Directorate of Fisheries’ shall promote profitable economic activity through sustainable and user-oriented management of marine resources and the marine environment.

The Directorate of Fisheries’ role is:

to provide professional input to the policy making process by way of

  • analyses, statistics and advice
  • legislature and regulative work and regulation planning development

to be an efficient manager by

  • implementing political decisions
  • processing applications and appeals
  • conducting monitoring and control

to be a partner through

  • active cooperation with trade and industry, the research community and other public services
  • knowledge sharing with various stakeholders and the general public
